Rosacea Treatment
There is presently no cure for rosacea, but most symptoms can be treated successfully.
Even after the rosacea is initially brought under control, long-term treatment with topical and/or oral medications may be required to keep symptoms from flaring or worsening. Some people stay on these medications for years, while others can cycle on and off of them depending on how their skin responds to treatment.
Your dermatologist will recommend a treatment plan based on a number of factors, including:
- The subtype of rosacea
- Past response to therapy
- Personal preferences
For instance, the redness and visible blood vessels of rosacea subtype 1 responds better to laser or IPL therapy whereas the bumps and pimples of rosacea subtype 2 respond better to anti-inflammatory medications.
